FAMILY
Family Background

A Family of Seven Siblings

Wajid comes from a family of seven siblings. His father worked as a shopkeeper in Saudi Arabia and has been a steady source of support throughout Wajid’s education and career. His maternal uncle also played a key role — encouraging him toward computers and his first steps into Information Technology.

His father’s advice has stayed with him: don’t tell everyone about your salary or your future plans before you achieve them, and don’t become proud even after reaching a high position — a lesson in privacy, patience, and humility.
CHILDHOOD
Family

The Forgetting Years

As a child, Wajid had a very weak memory — he forgot things easily and spent long hours just thinking things through. Some relatives teased him for it, and school made it worse: a single small topic could take an entire day, and study often stretched into the night. He didn’t consider himself capable of learning at the time — but this period became one of the most important lessons of his life: early difficulty doesn’t mean eventual failure.

TURNING POINT
Education

6th Out of 42 — the Class Two Turnaround

In Class Two, Wajid was struggling badly. His teacher predicted three students in the class would fail — and he was one of them. Without much confidence in himself, he kept studying day and night anyway. When the results came, he had placed 6th out of 42 students. It taught him a lesson that shaped everything after: even when you don’t believe in yourself, hard work can show you what you’re capable of.

SCHOOLING
Education

Matriculation & FSc

Matriculation at Al-Qalam Public School, Aghal Matta, Swat (07 Apr 2016 – 05 Apr 2018), followed by FSc — Faculty of Science at Govt. Higher Secondary School, Labat, Tehsil Matta, Swat (12 Jul 2018 – 28 Jul 2020). Before moving to Saudi Arabia, he also taught English language and basic computer skills to others.

IT JOURNEY
Information Technology

"I Cannot Learn This" — Learning Computers

When Wajid first sat in front of a computer, he didn’t even know how to open it properly. Looking at the keyboard full of buttons, he thought he simply couldn’t learn it. He kept going anyway — starting with basic operation, software installation, and Microsoft Word — and built from there.

DIT
Information Technology

Information Technology DIT — Diploma in Information Technology

Completed 28 May 2021 – 12 June 2022 at Government Technical and Vocational Center (Boys), Matta, Swat. During DIT, Wajid built skills across Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), Graphic Design (Adobe Photoshop, CorelDRAW, InPage, Canva), and Website Design (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, WordPress) — with his practical website work later focused mainly on HTML, CSS, and WordPress.

TEACHING
TEACHING

Teaching 123 People in IT

While still learning himself during DIT, Wajid began teaching friends and neighbours who were beginners — starting mainly with Microsoft Word, then expanding into broader IT training. Over time, he trained 123 people in Information Technology in total.

FIRST WEBSITE
Writing & Web

My First Website

Wajid’s first website was a personal portfolio, built with WordPress, HTML, and CSS — used to showcase his logo designs, post designs, and CVs. It marked a shift from learning technology to creating something of his own.

FIRST EARNING
Milestone

My First 500 Riyals

Wajid’s first freelance project came through his maternal uncle’s company and paid 500 Saudi Riyals. It was the first time he had earned money through his own skills, and it gave him the confidence that he could turn what he’d learned into a livelihood. Over time, he went on to build 7 websites in total — personal portfolios, cosmetics sites, transportation sites, emotional-stories sites, and basic tools sites — some his own, some paid freelance work.

ARRIVAL
New Beginning

Arriving in Saudi Arabia

Wajid arrived in Saudi Arabia in 2023, landing first in Riyadh. The extreme heat, compared to Swat’s cooler climate, was one of his first real challenges — something he gradually adjusted to. Finding work wasn’t easy either: he sent his CV out by WhatsApp and email, often without any reply, but kept trying until he landed his first real opportunity as a Safety Officer.

FIRST PROJECT FEAR
Overcoming Fear

Fear on My First Real Project

Wajid’s first hands-on project as a Safety Officer was with Asloob Bedaa Contracting Company in Diriyah — and it came with real fear. He had studied safety in books, but now had to manage real workers, hazards, and responsibilities. Hearing that some workers had been on-site for 12–16 years without going home worried him that he might get “stuck” too — until he understood the difference: he was a rental worker holding his own original documents, unlike company workers whose papers stayed with the company. As he gained more site experience, that fear gradually turned into confidence.

GROWTH
Career Growth

From 2 Zones to 5 Zones and 8 Buildings

Wajid started out covering just 2 zones, mainly closing observations raised by the contractor or consultant. Over time, he changed his approach — identifying hazards himself, training workers, and following up proactively. As his confidence grew, he took on around 5 zones and, at times, 8 buildings — not by doing everything alone, but by training foremen, supervisors, and permit receivers to manage their own areas. It became one of the biggest shifts in his career: from simply responding to observations, to helping others take ownership of safety themselves.

SCAFFOLDING
Practical Safety

Learning Scaffolding on Site

Scaffolding was one of the first construction activities Wajid learned deeply through hands-on experience — soleboards, base plates, standards, ledgers, bracing, platforms, guard rails, toe-boards, access ladders, three-point contact, tagging systems, and inspection requirements, along with different scaffold types (tower, independent, birdcage, hanging, cantilever, mobile). It was knowledge that no book could fully replace.

FIRST TBT
Teaching

My First Toolbox Talk

Wajid’s first Toolbox Talk was on Working at Height, delivered to roughly 250 workers. He was nervous at first, but grew comfortable speaking to large groups. Over time, he refined his approach — focusing on one topic at a time and turning talks into two-way conversations by inviting questions from workers, closing communication gaps rather than just lecturing.

1200 WORKERS
Teaching

Training Six Fresh Safety Officers

Wajid trained 6 newly qualified Safety Officers who had book knowledge but no practical site experience. He walked them through real site inspections, teaching them to spot hazards, judge unsafe conditions, and apply their training in real construction conditions — often explaining situations step by step with just a notebook and pen.

MENTORING
Teaching

Training More Than 1,200 Workers

Across his time with Asloob Bedaa, Wajid delivered Toolbox Talks on a wide range of construction topics to more than 1,200 workers — Pakistani, Indian, and Bangladeshi — often in Urdu, so the safety message landed clearly.

SALARY
Milestone

From 2,700 to 4,000 SAR

Wajid’s first salary as a Safety Officer was 2,700 SAR. It rose to 3,500 SAR, then reached 4,000 SAR in 2024, where it remained through his last duty. Beyond the numbers, what mattered most was the feeling of finally supporting himself — and his family — through his own career.

DISCIPLINE
Personal Growth

Learning to Follow a Timetable

Before his Safety career, Wajid didn’t pay much attention to time. On the job, he built a real timetable — arriving on time, completing tasks, learning after duty hours, planning the next day, and protecting his personal time. He considers this discipline one of the biggest personal achievements of his life.

WRITING
WRITING

47 Articles

Wajid has written 47 articles covering HSE and safety topics, emotional stories, personal and motivational reflections, and — most frequently — Information Technology. He began building his portfolio site in Pakistan and started writing articles more seriously after moving to Saudi Arabia.

ACHIEVEMENT
Achievement

Certificate of Appreciation

Issued 25 January 2026 at the Diriyah Super Basement Project (DGDA), the certificate recognises Wajid’s commitment to improving and maintaining high safety standards during his tenure. It carries the names of Asloob Bedaa Contracting Company, Salini Saudi Arabia, AECOM, and JLL, lists his position as HSE Officer, and is signed by the Project Manager and Chief Operating Officer.

LOOKING AHEAD
Future Goals

What Comes Next

With his last duty on 31 July 2026 and the Diriyah project complete, Wajid is now looking for his next opportunity in Safety / HSE / Construction Safety — while continuing to grow his interests in website design, IT, writing, and freelancing. His long-term goal is to become a business owner.
